What is the bag policy?

For everyone’s safety, we ask guests to enter without a bag of any kind. If personal items are specifically needed, guests should bring as few items as possible. Below are specific guidelines for bags:  

  • Clutch-size bags and small purses are permitted.  
  • Diaper bags, regardless of size, accompanying a child are permitted and subject to inspection.  
  • Medical bags, or any bags carrying medical items are permitted.
  • Oversized bags, including backpacks, are prohibited.  

All guests and items are subject to a voluntary inspection upon entering the Carolina Theatre. This voluntary inspection may involve metal detectors and surveillance pictures that may be stored for up to seven days.

Where should I park?

We're happy to offer a convenient parking option when joining us at the Carolina Theatre.  

Located one block away from the Carolina Theatre, we offer a discounted rate at the 201 N Tryon Garage. Should you wish to park in this garage, please note these important steps to ensure you can access our exclusive $10 rate: 

  • Upon entering the 201 N Tryon Garage (located behind the Dunhill Hotel), pull a parking stub. 
  • Once parked, proceed to the venue's main entrance doors at 230 N. Tryon Street. 
  • Once scanned into the venue, proceed to the Guest Services desk. Staff will facilitate the purchase or ticket redemption, where you then receive the parking validation to go along with your pulled parking ticket. 
  • Scan the validated parking ticket our Guest Services team gave you when you exit the garage. 

Please note: We are only able to provide our discounted parking rate at the  201 N Tryon Garage for arrivals after 5 p.m. Early arrivals and lost tickets will be charged $30 per vehicle.

Do children need tickets?

All guests older than 2 are required to have a ticket. Furthermore, children must be able to sit in their own seats without disturbing other guests unless the performance offers crowd engagement.  

Children younger than 10 must be supervised at all times. A parent or chaperone must be in attendance with children younger than 16.  

Please check each event page on our website for age requirements and recommendations for each performance. These guidelines will help you determine the appropriateness of each show for your children.  

Can I bring in outside food and drink?

Outside food and beverages are not allowed at the Carolina. (except needed for special dietary reasons) 

We offer a wide variety of food and beverage options for our guests’ enjoyment. We offer Coca-Cola products, domestic and foreign beer, liquor and specialty cocktails, popcorn and snacks.  

Food and drink are allowed in the theatre. Cup holders are provided at each seat. VIP seating areas (box seats, love seats and banquettes) all have tables for your convenience.  

What items are prohibited at the theatre?

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, the following items and activities are not permitted inside the Carolina Theatre. 

Prohibited Items: 

  • Outside food, beverages, or alcohol (except for approved dietary or medical needs) 
  • Large bags, backpacks, coolers, and unapproved bags 
  • Weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, tasers, pepper spray, and mace 
  • Illegal drugs 
  • Cameras, audio/video recording equipment, and laser pointers 
  • Artificial noise makers, drones, fireworks, sparklers, and other pyrotechnics 
  • Beach balls, helium balloons, folding chairs, and other large recreational items 
  • Signs, banners, flags, promotional items, or anything that may obstruct views or create a safety concern 
  • Large golf umbrellas (small telescoping umbrellas are permitted) 
  • Glass, metal, or other hard containers 
  • Pets (service animals are welcome) 
  • Any item deemed a safety or security risk by Theatre staff 

 

The following activities are prohibited: 

  • Smoking or vaping anywhere inside the theatre, lobby, or restrooms 
  • Recording, photographing, or livestreaming performances 
  • Using mobile devices during performances 
  • Disorderly, disruptive, or unsafe behavior 
  • Possession or use of weapons, illegal drugs, or prohibited items 

Can I take photos and videos during my event?

The Carolina Theatre abides by the rules set forth by the artists and their management. 

Commercial or flash photography of any kind is prohibited on a general basis unless otherwise approved in advance by the performance. The following equipment is strictly prohibited:  

  • Telephoto or zoom lenses  
  • Interchangeable lenses  
  • Monopods  
  • Tripods  
  • Flash equipment  

For events like graduations, recitals or children’s performances, please contact the Box Office at 704-828-6220 for information or special arrangements.  

What happens if there is inclement weather?

Performances at the Carolina Theatre will take place as scheduled unless otherwise announced. If a show is cancelled by the artist or the theatre due to weather, patrons will recieve a full refund and notfication via email.

If weather permits you from attending a show that is taking place as scheduled, we are not able to offer refunds. All sales are final.
