The King has returned. Sort of.

Seventy years ago -- on Feb. 10, 1956 -- Elvis Presley "shook, rattled and nearly rolled off" the Carolina Theatre stage. While we can't bring The King himself back to our stage, we're celebrating the 70th anniversary of his concert with a rocking Elvis Presley tribute artist singing all the tunes you know and love.

In 1956, tickets to see Presley cost 85 cents for adults and 50 cents for children, according to this ad.

While it's hard to believe Presley wasn't always as famous as he is now across the globe, news reports from the day talk of an up-and-coming artist joining other artists on stage at the Carolina Theatre. Still, Charlotte was mesmerized by this new sound and the man (and the hips) behind it. Schools let out early so students could see Presley in person, and girls of all ages lined up after the concert to grab a kiss from Presley himself.

Join us at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2026, as we celebrate our history with Presley at the Carolina Theatre with Don't Be Cruel, an epic Elvis Presley tribute band singing all your favorite of The King's songs.
